About the event

To be good at surfing, you need to be surf fit! Strong, flexible, and energetic! That's how you'll feel after our intensive ROXY training! MAKE SOME WAVES Date: Friday, April 8, 2022 / 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Location: Tyršův dům / Újezd 450, Prague 1 Instructors: Veronika Ševčíková & Sarah Vegnerová Lessons: 1. SURF YOGA & FITNESS / 90 min 2. SWIM & PADDLE / 60 min ROXY SURF YOGA & FITNESS / 90 min Combining yoga and surfing in theory and practice. A lesson focused on exercising the parts of the body that are most strained when surfing, namely the lower back, shoulders, and hips. Through asanas, you will learn how to strengthen these parts of the body, focusing on stability, concentration, and overall understanding of movement. The art of concentrating on your breath and the ability to focus is a skill that will benefit you not only in surfing. Thanks to this, you will enjoy every moment on the waves and in everyday life. The fitness part will focus on core strength and explosive leg power. You can expect high-intensity group interval training. The exercises are designed to mimic the experience of surfing, from paddling and jumping on the surfboard to balancing exercises. Forget about isolated exercises, in training we will engage multiple muscle groups at once, burning more calories, increasing lung capacity, and strengthening the heart. ROXY SWIM & PADDLE / 60 min Strong arms and proper paddling technique can not only get you out of trouble while surfing, but also allow you to surf longer and get to the line-up more easily. The strokes in the crawl simulate the movement of paddling very well, and above all, they engage almost identical muscle groups. Swimming can help you create the ideal conditions for easier paddling, as being a good swimmer allows you to be a little more confident in the ocean. Get a feel for the stroke underwater and understand how to work with the water. During training, we will practice the correct crawl technique and hypoxic training. Not catching a wave due to insufficient paddling strength is perhaps one of the most frustrating moments for a surfer. For this reason, we will also include effective paddling training in our training program. Strong arms, strong lower back muscles, and a strong core are the keys to success in building the right technique. We will explain, demonstrate, and practice the correct technique for paddling on a surfboard. No more spaghetti arms! Have you been tempted to try swimming for a long time, but don't know how to start? This is the perfect opportunity to give it a try! No surfing experience? No problem! Surfing is one of the most complex sports there is, so you'll get a lot out of the lessons even if you don't surf. The event is suitable for all levels of yoga practice, swimming, and of course, both genders! What to bring to ROXY ACTIVE TRAINING: Yoga mat, yoga/fitness outfit, fitness shoes, swimsuit, swimming goggles/swimming cap if necessary, towel, pool slippers, and most importantly, a smile and a good mood!
