FAQ

A foundational training to deepen your practice and learn to teach yoga.

More than a path to becoming a certified yoga teacher, this experience is an invitation to deepen your understanding of yoga, connect with yourself on a new level, and discover your own voice and purpose within the practice.

A space to learn, evolve, and find the confidence to share what you love with others.

Study the traditions and philosophy of Hatha Yoga while exploring the creativity, adaptability and evolution of modern Vinyasa, developing the knowledge and skills to share the practice with others.

Join us for 5 weekends in person at Yoga Movement Prague or study remotely through high-quality live-streamed sessions, connecting with a group of dedicated practitioners from wherever you are in the world. The training culminates in an 11-day in-person immersion in Sri Lanka, where we bring our studies together through practice, discussion and shared hands-on experience.

Whether you hope to teach yoga, deepen your own practice or explore the tradition beyond asana, this training offers a space to learn with curiosity, build a strong foundation and develop your own relationship with yoga.

Why this training?

A unique blend of Hatha and Vinyasa

Explore the foundations of traditional Hatha Yoga alongside the fluidity, creativity and intelligent sequencing of Vinyasa.

Yoga beyond the physical practice

Yoga is much more than asana. We will explore the philosophical and historical roots of the tradition, alongside pranayama, meditation, mantra, Bhakti Yoga and subtle body practices. Our aim is to understand not only how we practise, but also the ideas and traditions that have shaped yoga.

A hybrid format designed to connect

Attend the training in person at Yoga Movement Prague or participate through live-streamed sessions. Wherever you join from, you will study the same core curriculum and become part of the training community. Recordings will remain available for one year after the programme concludes.

An International Approach to Yoga Teaching

While our home is Yoga Movement Prague, the entire training is taught in English, welcoming students from Prague and around the world. You’ll develop the knowledge and confidence to teach yoga wherever life takes you, without being limited by language or borders.

Learning together in Sri Lanka

The in-person immersion offers time to step away from everyday routines and fully engage with the practice. In Sri Lanka, we will deepen our studies, put our learning into practice and share the experience of learning and teaching together, including the hands-on skills that can only be properly explored through in-person practice.

This training is for you if…

— You have an established yoga practice and want to understand it on a deeper level.

— You feel drawn to teaching yoga, or you are an existing teacher looking to revisit and strengthen your foundations.

— You are curious about yoga philosophy, its history and the traditions behind the practice.

— You want to develop a more thoughtful relationship with asana, breath, movement and meditation.

— You are open to questioning, learning and exploring different perspectives.

You do not need to be able to do advanced asanas. What matters most is a consistent personal practice, self-discipline, curiosity and a willingness to engage with the teachings.

What you will study

Our curriculum brings together six key modules, balancing the practical skills of teaching with a deeper understanding of yoga’s philosophical and traditional roots.

1. Yoga History, Philosophy and Tradition

Explore the origins and evolution of yoga and the traditions that continue to shape its practice today. We will study key teachings from the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and the Bhagavad Gita, alongside yoga’s philosophical foundations and the broader context in which these teachings developed.

This module also introduces meditation, pranayama and the subtle dimensions of yoga, helping you understand the practice beyond its physical form.

2. Asana, Technique and Intelligent Sequencing

Develop a deeper understanding of asana, including alignment, transitions, modifications and the relationship between breath and movement. Explore the foundations of Hatha and Vinyasa, learn how to adapt postures for different bodies and build thoughtful, balanced sequences with a clear intention.

Through practice and observation, you will begin to understand how to create classes that are both purposeful and responsive to the people in the room.

3. Applied Anatomy and Biomechanics

Build a practical understanding of the human body and how it moves. Learn key anatomical and biomechanical principles, explore mobility and stability, and understand how to apply this knowledge to your own practice and teaching. This includes learning how to approach hands-on assists and adjustments with an understanding of anatomy, individual differences and physical boundaries.

The focus is on making anatomy accessible and useful, helping you make informed choices rather than relying on rigid alignment rules.

4. Subtle Body, Pranayama, and Meditation

Explore breath as a tool for awareness, regulation and connection. Learn traditional pranayama techniques and meditation practices, and become familiar with the subtle body concepts that appear throughout yoga traditions.

We will consider how these practices can support a more integrated approach to yoga, both on and off the mat.

5. Bhakti Yoga, Mantra and Sanskrit

Discover the devotional dimensions of yoga through Bhakti Yoga, mantra, chanting and the stories behind traditional teachings. Develop an introduction to Sanskrit pronunciation and terminology, and explore how sound, ritual and devotion have been woven into yoga practice across generations.

6. Teaching Methodology and the Business of Yoga

Learn how to share yoga with clarity, confidence and care. Develop your teaching voice through cueing, class planning, sequencing and adapting practices for different students. You will also practise the foundations of hands-on assists and adjustments, learning to approach physical contact thoughtfully, communicate with students, respect consent and recognise when an adjustment is appropriate. We will also cover teaching ethics, professional boundaries and the practical foundations of building a sustainable career in yoga.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to live in Prague to join?

No. The training weekends will be live-streamed from Yoga Movement Prague, so you can join remotely from anywhere in the world. You will need to attend the Sri Lanka immersion in person to complete the full 200-hour programme.

Do I need to be an advanced practitioner?

No. You should have an established personal yoga practice and be ready to engage with the material. Advanced asana skills are not required. Just an open mind and heart.

Is the Sri Lanka immersion mandatory?

Yes. The 11-day Sri Lanka immersion is a compulsory part of the full 200-hour training. While the Prague weekends can be attended remotely, some teaching skills require in-person learning and practice. This is particularly true of hands-on assists and adjustments, where you need to develop an understanding of the body through direct, guided experience, learn to work with different bodies and practise physical contact with appropriate consent and care. These skills are an important part of preparing to teach responsibly, and they cannot be fully learnt through online sessions alone.

How much independent practice and homework is required?

You will be expected to complete at least 15 hours of self-practicum, including homework and independent study. Your unlimited Yoga Movement Prague membership, included for the entire duration of the training, gives you the opportunity to attend studio classes and support your personal practice as you work towards completing these hours.

Will I receive a teaching qualification?

Yes. The programme will be registered with Yoga Alliance as a Registered Yoga School (RYS 200). Upon successful completion of the full programme, you will receive a 200-hour teacher training certificate and be eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200), qualifying you to teach yoga professionally, subject to any additional requirements in the country where you intend to teach.

Will I be able to teach at Yoga Movement Prague after graduating?

Graduates who demonstrate the necessary skills and readiness may have the opportunity to begin their teaching career at Yoga Movement Prague. This is an opportunity, not a guaranteed teaching position, and will depend on suitability and studio needs.

Can I pay in installments?

Yes. Payment plans will be available. Details of installment options and deadlines will be shared during the application process.

What if I only want to study online?

You can apply for the separate 100-hour online programme for €1,400 / 34,000 CZK. This option does not include the Sri Lanka immersion and does not qualify as the full 200-hour teacher training certification.

Ready to begin?

If you feel drawn to explore yoga beyond the physical practice, deepen your understanding of its traditions and build a stronger foundation for your own sadhana, we would love to hear from you.

Spaces are limited to 18 students.
